A planning support film to bring housing proposals to life — helping secure approval for major housing developments

Mactaggart & Mickel, a family-owned housebuilder with a legacy of quality and care, approached Mambo Video to help communicate their plans for several major developments in East Dunbartonshire. Known for thoughtful design and community-minded development, they needed a compelling way to bring their proposals to life for both planners and the public.
Challenge
One of the company’s key hurdles was navigating the complexities of planning approval — a process often slowed by red tape and public uncertainty. Our brief was to create a film that clearly conveyed Mactaggart & Mickel’s vision, values, and the benefits of their proposed developments. It also needed to demystify the plans for local residents and stakeholders, many of whom find traditional planning documents difficult to interpret.
Results
We produced a clear, engaging film combining interview-led storytelling with CGI visuals to illustrate the proposed developments. The tone was friendly and accessible, helping to build trust and transparency with the community. The outcome? Planning proposals were successfully approved and have since moved into development — with the film playing a key role in securing support and understanding.
